Windows 8 lock screen is not only the lock screen. It contains the background Image and with widgets and that widgets displays the quick notification. That widgets displays such as new emails, social messages, instant messages, weather and so on.
If we do not like the lock screen we can disable by either using the registry or group policy. If disables the lock screen windows always shows the password prompt.
We can set the lock screen back ground by go to PC Settings, Personalization and Lock Screen.
We can change the background of the lock screen by selecting Personalise, Lock screen in the PC Settings.
Lock screen widgets which are displaying in Lock Screen are called "lock screen Apps". It can fetch the new, updated information and displays in the lock screen while the system is in the locking mode.
Configuring the lock screen Apps option also available in the PC Settings, Personalization and Lock Screen.

The Charms Bar in Windows 8 is the bar which contains the icons, which is in the right side of the screen.It slides in 2 situations:
1. When swiping on a touch device from right to left in the right side of the screen
2. When clicking in the lower-right corner or upper-right corner of the screen while using a mouse.

Select the "Settings" charm in the Charm Bar all the way on the right in Windows 8.
Click "Change PC settings" at the bottom of the new screen.
Select "Users" from the PC settings screen.
Hit the "Create a picture password" selection on the right side of the Users screen.
Click the green "Choose picture" button.
Browse through your computers folders when they appear and select a picture.
Click "Use this picture" when you find one you want. You can also click "Choose new picture" to try a new one.
Trace a 3 sets of patterns over the picture to complete the code that will unlock your computer.
